The Palettes Defining London Interiors in 2026

Every year brings subtle shifts in how Londoners use colour at home. The trends for 2026 are less about dramatic reinvention and more about a maturing confidence, homeowners across Belgravia, Chelsea and Kensington choosing richer, more considered palettes that reflect how they actually live rather than chasing fleeting fashions.

Our decorating teams have painted hundreds of rooms already this year, and clear patterns are emerging. Here are the colour directions we are seeing most often across London's finest homes.

Warm Earth Tones: Terracotta, Clay and Ochre

The earthy palette that began gaining ground in recent years has moved firmly into the mainstream for 2026. Warm terracotta, muted clay and soft ochre tones are appearing in kitchens, living rooms and hallways across Fulham, Wandsworth and Pimlico.

These colours work exceptionally well in London's diffused natural light. Where a stark white or cool grey can feel flat under overcast skies, a warm clay shade like Farrow & Ball's Red Earth or Little Greene's Tuscan Red brings life and energy to a room even on the greyest January afternoon.

Where we are using them: Open-plan kitchen-diners in Battersea, hallways in Victorian terraces across Islington, and feature walls in Belgravia sitting rooms. Pair with warm white woodwork (not brilliant white) for a cohesive, inviting feel.

Sophisticated Greens: From Sage to Forest

Green continues its extraordinary run as the colour of the decade, but the specific shades are evolving. The bright, saturated greens of a few years ago have given way to deeper, more complex tones. Forest green, bottle green and rich olive are dominating in 2026, alongside softer sage and lichen shades for bedrooms and bathrooms.

Farrow & Ball's Beverly and Duck Green are popular choices across our Knightsbridge and Mayfair projects, while Little Greene's Puck and Hopper offer slightly earthier alternatives that suit north-facing rooms in Hampstead and Highgate.

Where we are using them: Master bedrooms in Chelsea, panelled studies in Westminster, and cloakrooms throughout central London. Deep green below a dado rail with a pale neutral above is a combination we have painted dozens of times this year.

Warm Neutrals: Beyond Greige

The greige revolution of the 2010s has matured into something warmer and more nuanced. In 2026, the most popular neutrals across London interiors carry distinct undertones of pink, peach or honey rather than the cool taupe-grey that dominated for so long.

Mylands' Covent Garden, Paint & Paper Library's Fossil and Farrow & Ball's Jitney are all seeing heavy rotation. These shades feel contemporary but timeless, elegant but liveable. They are the quiet backbone of most London colour schemes, providing a sophisticated foundation that lets furniture, art and textiles take centre stage.

Where we are using them: Everywhere. Hallways in Marylebone, reception rooms in Belgravia, bedrooms in Richmond. Warm neutrals remain the safest and most versatile choice for London homes, and the 2026 iterations are the most refined yet.

Deep Blues: Navy Evolves

Navy blue has been a London staple for years, but 2026 sees the shade shifting slightly. Pure, saturated navies are being replaced by blues with added warmth, think ink-blue, petrol blue and dark teal. These have more complexity and sit more comfortably alongside the warm earth tones and greens that dominate the current palette.

Little Greene's Hicks' Blue and Farrow & Ball's Stiffkey Blue remain popular, but we are also seeing growing interest in Mylands' Borough Market collection for its warmer, more characterful blues.

Where we are using them: Dining rooms in Kensington, front doors across Belgravia, and accent walls in Notting Hill living rooms. Dark blue joinery, particularly on built-in bookcases, is a strong trend in 2026.

Quiet Pinks and Plaster Tones

Not the brash millennial pink of years past, the pinks trending in 2026 are barely-there plaster tones and dusty roses. Subtle enough to function as a warm neutral, these shades bring softness to bedrooms and bathrooms without feeling juvenile.

Farrow & Ball's Setting Plaster and Pink Ground are the most requested across our projects in South Kensington and Wandsworth. They pair beautifully with deep green and warm neutrals, creating layered colour schemes that feel cohesive and considered.

Where we are using them: Bedrooms, ensuite bathrooms and dressing rooms. In larger Belgravia properties, a plaster pink in the primary bedroom with sage green in the ensuite creates a spa-like flow between spaces.

Bold Accent Colours: Confident Choices

While the base palettes are warm and grounded, 2026 is also seeing more confidence in bold accent colours. Saffron yellow on a single wall, rich burgundy on internal doors, or a deep aubergine in an alcove, these moments of drama are being used deliberately and sparingly to create focal points.

The key is restraint. One bold element per room, set against a considered neutral backdrop, creates impact without chaos. Our teams in Islington and Shoreditch are painting more adventurous accent colours this year than at any point in the past five years.

How to Choose Your 2026 Palette

Trends are useful as starting points, but the right colour for your home depends on your specific light, architecture and taste. A shade that looks perfect in a south-facing Chelsea drawing room may feel entirely different in a north-facing Hampstead study.

Our approach is always to test colours in situ with large painted samples viewed at different times of day. We are happy to advise on colour selection and help you build a palette that works for your London home, both now and for years to come.
