Decorating St Andrew's Place

St Andrew's Place is one of Nash's finest minor set pieces in the Regent's Park estate, a short but majestic terrace of Ionic-columned stucco villas facing the eastern edge of the park, directly opposite the Royal College of Physicians. Developed in the 1820s as part of John Nash's grand metropolitan improvement scheme, the terrace combines the scale of a palace with the intimacy of a residential street, its columned frontages and pilastered bays creating a theatrical architectural statement. The Royal College of Physicians and the park beyond make this one of the most architecturally coherent settings in London.

St Andrew's Place is Grade I listed, requiring all external painting to be executed to Historic England's highest conservation standards using proven lime-compatible and breathable paint systems appropriate for Nash's original stucco render. The complex columned and pilastered elevations demand decorators with specialist training in monumental Regency painting, capable of maintaining the exacting colour uniformity and crisp profiles that define the Crown Estate's exacting standards for the Regent's Park terraces.
