Decorating Half Moon Street

Half Moon Street is a short but distinguished Georgian street running south from Piccadilly towards Curzon Street in the heart of Mayfair, and is perhaps best known as the fictional address of Bertie Wooster in P.G. Wodehouse's novels. The street was developed in the mid-eighteenth century and retains an impressive run of Georgian terraced townhouses, several of which have been converted to office or hotel use, though residential occupancy remains significant. The street is within the Mayfair Conservation Area and is a listed building cluster of considerable architectural importance.

The Georgian townhouses of Half Moon Street have brick facades with stone dressings that demand a light touch — repainting is typically limited to windows, doors, railings, and any stucco elements, with the brick itself generally left uncoated in line with conservation guidance. Original sash windows, many of which are listed, require specialist joinery preparation and period-appropriate paint finishes.
