Decorating Cavendish Square

Cavendish Square is one of London's earliest and grandest Georgian garden squares, laid out in the 1710s–1720s as the centrepiece of the Harley Estate development of Marylebone. The square is bordered by a mix of original Georgian brick townhouses, later Victorian and Edwardian insertions, and twentieth-century institutional buildings, giving it an architecturally diverse character. Today the square is flanked by a mixture of high-end medical practices, corporate offices, and private residential apartments reflecting the area's long-standing professional character.

Cavendish Square's diversity of building ages and uses means decorators must be adept at working across both occupied commercial premises and sensitive residential interiors, often with strict out-of-hours access requirements. Original Georgian brickwork requires lime-compatible pointing and breathable exterior coatings rather than modern impermeable masonry paint.
