Decorating Templewood Avenue

Templewood Avenue is a leafy, sloping residential street in West Hampstead running between Finchley Road and the quieter streets approaching Hampstead Heath, developed largely in the late Victorian and Edwardian periods with substantial detached and semi-detached houses set within generous gardens. The street takes its name from Templewood, the family home of Sir Samuel Hoare, and is characterised by a varied architectural mix of red brick Arts and Crafts houses, rendered Edwardian villas and some later twentieth-century infill, all set beneath a canopy of mature trees. It lies within the Hampstead Conservation Area.
