Decorating Pont Street

Pont Street is a distinctive and architecturally unusual street in Belgravia, famous for its rows of red-brick Dutch-gabled mansion blocks built in the 1880s — a style so striking it gave rise to the satirical term 'Pont Street Dutch'. Unlike the creamy stucco that dominates the rest of Belgravia, Pont Street's terracotta and red brick facades lend the street a robust, confident character. The street runs between Sloane Street and Beauchamp Place and remains one of the most architecturally interesting in the area.

The red-brick and terracotta facades of Pont Street are largely self-finished and require little exterior painting, but the substantial timber sash windows, balcony railings, and ornate stone dressings benefit from regular specialist attention.
